Each year, University College London (UCL) offers the Bartlett Promise Scholarship to international students from a select list of Sub-Saharan African countries approved by Bartlett. This scholarship covers the full cost of overseas tuition fees and provides an annual stipend of £16,008 to help with living and study expenses for the entire duration of the program.

Eligibility Requirements For the 2025 University College London Bartlett Promise Scholarship
To be eligible for The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan African Scholarship, candidates must:
- Be a national of one of the Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries listed as approved by The Bartlett and be residing in an eligible SSA country.
- Not hold British citizenship or dual British nationality.
- Not have previously received, nor currently receive, any funding for a master’s or equivalent qualification from any institution outside of The Bartlett’s approved list of SSA countries, up until 1 October 2026.
- Have received an offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s program for the 2025-26 academic year, with the offer being unconditional or conditional only on English language assessment by 28 March 2025.
- Demonstrate financial need as assessed by UCL.
How to Apply for the 2025 University College London Bartlett Promise Scholarship
To apply for the 2025 University College London Bartlett Promise Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should;

- Before applying for The Bartlett Promise scholarship, you must first secure a place in a Bartlett Master’s program. Once you receive an offer, you can apply for the scholarship.
- The application form for The Bartlett Promise will be available from 14 February 2025 and will close on 28 March 2025 at 23:45 BST.
- Applications for Bartlett master’s programs open on 17 October 2025. We highly recommend applying early. To be eligible for the scholarship, you must have received an offer of admission to a Bartlett Master’s program by 28 March 2025.
- UCL aims to make a decision within 6 weeks of receiving your complete application, including academic transcripts and both references.
- However, during peak application periods, the process may take 3-4 months. We strongly advise applying early as the 6-week response time is not guaranteed.
