The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) is an initiative launched by the Beijing Municipal Government. Requirements For the Beijing Government Scholarships 2025
To be eligible for the Beijing Government Scholarships 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality and Health: Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
- Educational Background and Age Limit:
– Undergraduate applicants: Must have completed high school and be under 30 years old.
– Master’s applicants: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
– Doctoral applicants: Must possess a Master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
– Advanced studies applicants: Should have an undergraduate degree or be in their second university year, and be under 50 years old.
– Language study applicants: Must have a high school diploma and be under 60 years old.
– Visiting scholars: Should hold at least a Master’s degree or an associate professorship, and be under 50 years old.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet the language requirements set by the respective academic program and institution.
- Exclusion for Other Scholarship Recipients: Applicants who are already receiving financial aid from other Chinese government programs or organizations/agencies are not eligible for this scholarship.
Required Documents for Beijing Government Scholarships 2025
To apply, candidates must submit the following documents:
- Application Form for Beijing Government Scholarship: This form can be obtained from the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) or downloaded from the website of the targeted HEIs.
- Notarized highest diploma and transcripts.
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Required if the duration of study is six months or more.
- Study plan (at least 400 words) or research plan (at least 800 words): Must be submitted in Chinese or English for degree or research students.
- Music and art applicants: Must submit their own works according to the requirements of the target HEIs.
- Applicants under 18: Should provide legal documents from their legal guardians in China.
How to Apply for Beijing Government Scholarships 2025 (Step by Step)
To apply for the 2025 Beijing Government Scholarships, interested and eligible candidates should:

- Submit their application for admission to qualified universities in Beijing.
- The universities will review the application and forward their decisions to the scholarship host.
- The universities will send the Scholarship Admission Notice, Admission Notice, and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to candidates three months before the study begins.
- Applications will be considered invalid and will not be accepted if applicants do not meet the eligibility criteria or if the application materials are incomplete.
- Host institutions will conduct an annual review of scholarship students’ performances.
